Our assisted living apartments are a perfect choice for those that wish to maintain an independent lifestyle with the security of knowing trained, licensed and certified staff are available 24/7. We provide a unique combination of housing and personal care in the privacy of the resident’s apartment, while promoting a sense of community and friendship to fit different lifestyles.
We offer a variety of personal care options at an additional cost. You only pay for the services you need. By combining housing, individual, and healthcare services, Wheatland Terrace has everything needed to live comfortably.
Respite care is available to those requiring a short-term stay within assisted living. Services are available at a daily rate determined by the style of fully furnished unit. Personal care services are available for an additional fee
Wheatland Terrace offers residents beautiful apartments with popular common amenities. Each resident enjoys three meals per day, served restaurant-style, in our beautiful dining room. Choice of entrée is available for the noon and evening meal. Our full-time and part-time activities staff provide 4-6 scheduled activities each weekday, everything from BINGO to sing-a-longs, exercise to weekly shopping trips, and more. Each week, staff will lightly clean the apartment, making the bed, and taking out the trash. Residents use our Valley Senior Living transportation to go to medical appointments.
Nursing services are not provided in the rent at Wheatland Terrace. Nursing cares, whether scheduled or used as needed, are charged ala carte at a competitive rate as used. Those who do not need regularly scheduled nursing cares do not pay for nursing.
All residents of Wheatland Terrace are issued a medical alert pendant or wristband when they move into their apartment. In addition, there is a nurse call button on the apartment wall, allowing residents to visit live with nursing staff in the building 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The meals are prepared here in the kitchen at Valley Senior Living, and the food is good! Diet types available include a general diet, no added salt, low concentrated sweets, as well as gluten-free, and vegetarian to name a few.
Residents at Wheatland Terrace are encouraged to enjoy their meals in the dining room, not only for nutrition but for socialization. Eating in the dining room also offers three checks per day for resident wellness. If a tenant prefers to eat in their room, they can pick up their meal in the dining room. For a charge, we can deliver to a resident’s room.
Wheatland Terrace residents enjoy the Myra Café, which offers fresh salads, sandwiches, and snacks each day of the week. Hot meals at reasonable prices are available at the Café for residents and their guests Monday-Friday. At Valley on 42nd, we also offer a gaming room, OT/PT room, auditorium, and more.
Valley’s location on 42nd Street (south of the Alerus Center) offers a full continuum of care. Many of our residents enjoy the fact that, if their spouse needs a higher level of care than they do, the couple can live separately but under the same roof. So, one spouse might choose an assisted living apartment at Wheatland Terrace while their spouse lives at Hearthstone memory care just a short walk away without ever having to go outside. The spouses can still enjoy meals and time together while allowing the more independent person to just enjoy the time spent with their spouse instead of having to serve as a caregiver for complex needs.
Potential residents of Wheatland Terrace assisted living must pass a nurse’s screening to ensure they can live independently in their apartment with nursing support. If one spouse is a primary caregiver and ends up hospitalized, the second spouse must be able to live on their own in the Wheatland Terrace apartment or he or she would be considered a vulnerable adult by the state of North Dakota. For that reason, unless both spouses can live independently in the apartment, some may need to consider living at different levels of care, in different apartments, but under the same roof here at Valley on 42nd Street.

Wheatland Terrace is a private-pay community. In some cases, a long-term care insurance policy may assist with payment. For those approved for North Dakota Medicaid, you may qualify for assistance with payment through the Basic Care Assistance Program for Valley Senior Living’s Tufte Manor.
